Scorpene Documents Leak

The whistleblower behind the Scorpene document leak will hand over the disk containing thousands of pages of data detailing the Indian submarine's stealth and warfare capabilities, to the Australian government on Monday, The Australian newspaper today said.

The damage report from the leak of over 22,000 documents detailing secrets of India's Scorpene submarines is not yet in.

After documents have indicated that details of India's Scorpene submarines have been leaked, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said today that he had been assured the impact is "minimal", even though India is "assuming the worst case scenario".

The Navy today said it has taken up the Scorpene document leak matter with France's Directorate General of Armament and has asked the French government to investigate the incident with urgency and share their findings with the Indian side.

French naval contractor DCNS said on Wednesday that it could not rule out that leaked documents on submarines built for India were part of an "economic war" by competitors after the firm won a tender in Australia earlier this year.
