Sea Port Protests

The over 130-day-long protest by fisherfolk against the under-construction Vizhinjam sea port was on Tuesday called off for now.

The Kerala Police today booked the convenor of the Fishermen's protest outside the Vizhinjam seaport in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram.

The Kerala High Court was informed by the state government on Monday that steps will be taken to recover the loss suffered due to the violent protest and attack over the Vizhinjam sea port incident from the protesters.

The disappointment started mounting the first day of a two-week Norwegian Cruise Line voyage in Europe. So by the time the Norwegian Spirit had diverted to several alternative ports - spending extra unplanned days at sea - passengers were on edge.

Israeli forces boarded a boat leading a protest flotilla of foreign activists to the blockaded Palestinian enclave of Gaza on Monday and forced it to sail to an Israeli port, the Israeli military said.
