President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday said the Indian Navy's constant vigil, prompt response to incidents and untiring efforts have been highly successful in maintaining the safety of the seas as India believed in security and growth.

The second edition of India's most expansive coastal defence exercise, Sea Vigil, will start on Tuesday, the Indian Navy said announcing the start of the two-day exercise that covers the country's 13 coastal states and Union Territories.

Ten years after the Mumbai terror attack, the Navy on Tuesday launched a first of its kind multi-agency drill, covering the entire 7,516 km-long Indian coastline and exclusive economic zone and involving 13 coastal states and Union Territories to check the efficacy of maritime security and surveillance.

The Kerala government on Saturday stepped up its vigil in view of the possibility of heavy rains following formation of a depression over south-east and adjoining east-central Arabian Sea.
