Residents in Telangana's Secunderabad are protesting against closure of 21 roads in the cantonment area. Demanding right of way, the residents said walls have been built across the roads, or barricades and security checks have been put up.

It's a problem many of us are used to dealing with: bad roads filled gaping potholes. Day after day, we suffer nightmare-ish commutes while waiting for local government authorities to do something. But Telangana residents took matters into their own hands on Sunday, staging a unique protest by repairing part of a pothole-ridden road themselves.

On the Secunderabad Cantonment road, a two-wheeler zipped past cars and Army trucks. Shockingly, a seven-year-old, helmet on head, was driving the scooter, with her father riding pillion.

Thousands gathered at the large ground and all roads were spilling over with traffic headed for Secunderabad to attend the meeting. For the Telangana Rashtra Samiti's founding day, the city of Hyderabad was awash in the party's signature pink.

A Road Transport Corporation bus in Secunderabad has reportedly run over pedestrians, injuring seven people. The accident happened near the Secunderabad railway station in China Bazaar in southern part of the city at about 1 pm.
