Self Defence Training To Girls

Asha Suman has trained over 300 girls from different parts of Rajasthan in the past three years. A total of 55 disabled girls, including 11 visually-impaired girls, were given training in a government training camp in Jaipur from October 6 to 15.

Girl students of more than 40,000 upper primary schools in Uttar Pradesh will learn self-defence techniques under the Mission Shakti programme between March 1 and 31, said Vijay Kiran Anand, Director-General of School Education, Uttar Pradesh.

The ministry provides Rs 3,000 per month for a period of three months per government-run school for the self-defence training and inculcating life skills among girls.

As many as 6,000 schoolgirls in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district will be imparted self-defence training in a bid to empower them, an official spokesperson said yesterday.
