Iran detained three railway officials on Saturday after a collision between two trains that left at least 44 people dead, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

At least 31 people were killed in Iran early on Friday when an intercity express was hit by another train while stopped at a station, the Provincial Governor said.
