Serum Institute Submits Reply In Pune Court Over "Covishield" Lawsuit

Serum Institute of India on Tuesday filed its response in the civil court here to a lawsuit by a pharmaceutical products manufacturer and seller over the brandname 'Covishield', saying both companies operate in different product categories and there is no scope for confusion over the trademark.

The chief of the world's largest vaccine-maker has asked the government to indemnify manufacturers against lawsuits. Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawalla has asked the government to protest vaccine-makers from "frivolous lawsuits" as the company prepares to roll out vaccines to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
