The Delhi Congress will observe party leader Rahul Gandhi's birthday on Saturday as "Sewa Diwas" and distribute free essential items, the organisation said on Friday.

The Delhi unit of the BJP Monday launched a week-long programme, under which welfare initiatives will be undertaken by party leaders, to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday.

As the Prime Minister inaugurated the Sardar Sarovar project at Kevadia in Gujarat, BJP leaders and ministers took a lead in cleanliness and other campaigns.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 67th birthday will be observed as "Seva Diwas" across the country. BJP leaders and ministers will attend medical camps, blood donation events and take part in cleanliness drives.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi turns 67 on Sunday, his ministers have been told to spend 10 am to noon volunteering in efforts to push his Clean India or Swachh Bharat mission. The ministers have been told in a power point presentation accessed by NDTV, to aim not for publicity but on mobilizing communities.
