In US, another ruling in favour of maid who accused Indian diplomat of slavery

An Indian maid who had accused her former employer, an IFS officer, and her husband of harassment and slavery has received a favourable ruling from a US court, which approved her petition that she be awarded $1.5 million as compensation by the couple.

A magistrate in New York has recommended that India born Shanti Gurung, who worked as a domestic help for Neena Malhotra, a former Consul at the Indian Consulate in New York, be awarded $1.5 million for "barbaric treatment" at the hands of her employer.
