The assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir have witnessed the highest total voter turnout in 25 years, the Election Commission has said, as the state went to polls for the fifth and final phase today. Jharkhand, which also went to polls today in the fifth phase, recorded a turnout of over 70 per cent.

Both Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand voted in the fifth and final phase of the Assembly election today. In Jammu and Kashmir, 20 of the 87 seats voted in this phase, while polling took place in 16 of the 87 seats in Jharkhand.
