The release of Puli had hit a roadblock after early morning shows and overseas premieres of the film were cancelled due to payment issues. However, the issues are now resolved and the film has released in India and abroad. Hansika Motwani tweeted: "All issues sorted. It's time to Roar. It's time for #Puli. it's #showtime"

"He watched the film at NFDC's (National Film Development Corporation) preview theatre. His children and wife loved the film and Vijay hopes that his fans will like it too," a source from the theatre told IANS. "Tamil cinema was known for some of the best fantasy films. I don't understand why we've stopped making them. In the last few years, Telugu filmdom explored this genre quite well. I hope Puli gives Tamil filmmakers the confidence to make more such films," said Chimbu Deven, director of Sridevi's Puli

"Shruti was approached for Hera Pheri 3. But due to her date commitments for two southern films and her soon to be announced Hindi project, she could not go ahead with it. She does hope to work with Abhishek Bachchan in the future," said Shruti's spokesperson

Shruti and Akshara are daughters of actors Kamal Haasan and Sarika. Akshara recently made her Bollywood debut in R Balki's Shamitabh, co-starring Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush. "I'm very protective about Akshara and also very proud of her achievements. I can't wait to see her do more and make us all proud"

"Shruti and Milan had quite a few meetings. Shruti seemed happy about the film's story and how her role was described in those meetings. Hence she agreed verbally but also requested to see a final script before signing the dotted line, as it is a standard norm these days," a source close to Shruti said
