A man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 15-year-old daughter in Sikkim's Namchi district, police said on Thursday.

In a confounding move, Krishna Kumari Rai has quit as the MLA from Namchi Singhithang just a day after she took the oath of office. Ms Rai is the wife of CM Prem Singh Tamang, whose party, Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM), swept the recent elections.

Two people have been killed, one is missing, and several homes have been damaged in Sikkim as heavy rains triggered a flash flood in the Majua village in the state's Namchi district this morning around 5:30 am.

A special team of the West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) raided a resort in Sikkim's Namchi area following information about the presence of absconding GJM chief Bimal Gurung there but he managed to escape, a senior official said today.
