Silda Attack

An alleged Maoist, wanted in several murder cases including the Silda massacre, was arrested in Coimbatore in the early hours today, police said.

Responding to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's call, a hardcore Maoist couple against whom several cases of murder and violence including the deadly attack on a paramilitary camp in Silda were pending surrendered today before the police.

Koteswar Rao alias Kishenji is a top Naxal leader, known to have carried out many deadly attacks. He is believed to be behind the latest attack on the Silda Camp in West Bengal.

Twenty-four families are grieving in the aftermath of the massacre at Silda, but in the family of the cook at the Eastern Rifle Frontier Camp there is also enormous anger. Anger at the Maoist specially Kishenji, who has left so many widows and fatherless in what he has called Operation Peace Hunt.
