The Kerala government has not abandoned the semi-high speed rail corridor, SilverLine, as the project will have to be approved by the central government, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said in the state assembly on Tuesday.

The Congress-led United Democratic Front opposition on Tuesday resumed its attack on the Kerala government over the SilverLine semi-high speed rail corridor project. The opposition said the project was not sanctioned by the Centre and the Railways.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday said he had a good meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed hope that the central government approvals will come faster for the ambitious SilverLine project.

The Kerala High Court on Monday allowed the state government's appeals and set aside a single judge order deferring a survey in connection with the SilverLine project.

The Centre is unlikely to give its approval for the SilverLine Project in Kerala as there were lot of faults in it, Metroman E Sreedharan said on Thursday, even as Pinarayi Vijayan asserted that his government would not back down from.
