TRAI Enforces New Porting Guidelines From July 1 to Curb Fraudulent SIM Replacements

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) announced new guidelines concerning the replacement of lost, damaged or stolen SIM cards on March 14. The rules come into effect starting today (July 1). As per the guidelines, mobile phone users must now wait for a specified period of time before they will be allowed to switch network providers.

Qualcomm has partnered with Thales to add iSIM or Integrated SIM capabilities into the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The functionality would replace traditional SIM cards as well as eSIM and is expected to reduce the manufacturing costs of handset makers.
