"Both Slums And Farm Houses": Top Court On Aravali Forest Land Clearance

The Supreme Court, on June 7, ordered the removal of illegal structures in Khori village, located in the Aravali forest range. Today it asked authorities to continue removing of both slums and farm houses and sought a rehabilitation policy, too.

Delhi Government on tuesday approved a slum policy which will ensure 'in situ' rehabilitation of slum dwellers, a key poll promise of Aam Aadmi Party, and said "no new jhuggies" will be allowed in the city.

Taking a leaf out of Mumbai's slum rehabilitation policy, Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is now planning to undertake such projects in Delhi only after obtaining the consent of at least 70 per cent of the slum-dwellers.
