The Supreme Court today stayed the lokayukta police probe against External Affairs Minister SM Krishna. Mr Krishna had challenged the registration of an FIR by the Karnataka Lokayukta (ombudsman) police on allegations that he had illegally de-reserved forest blocks for mining when he was chief minister 1999-2004.

Investigations will continue against External Affairs Minister SM Krishna in a case of alleged facilitation of illegal mining, the Karnataka High Court ruled today. External Affairs Minister SM Krishna has filed a criminal petition in the Karnataka High Court seeking quashing of a case registered against him based on a private complaint that alleged that as Karnataka chief minister he allowed illegal mining to continue.
