Smart City Scheme Plan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said private property developers should not decide how a city should grow and the decision should be taken by residents and the city leadership, as he unveiled three mega flagship urban schemes aimed at developing cities as engines of growth.

Puducherry government has initiated steps to prepare a detailed letter to focus the "eligible parameters that Puducherry possess for being identified as smart city," Welfare and Tourism Minister P Rajavelu said on Thursday.

Gearing up to roll out its 'Smart City' scheme next month, the Government today said it has planned to form a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for each of the cities to execute the ambitious project.
