According to PTI sources, the pay revision will be effective from April 1 and will see salaries of employees at the mid and junior-level go up by an average 12-15 percent.

Snapdeal is said to be laying off 600 employees across Snapdeal, Vulcan, and Freecharge units, and the process will carry on for the next few days.

According to sources, the company started the process last week and will lay off 500-600 people across Snapdeal, Vulcan (logistics) and Freecharge (digital payments business).

Flipkart termed the move as a "fairly common practice across various industries - especially in high performing Internet organisations".

The employees have been given 30 days to improve performance.
