Srinagar By-Election: Farooq Abdullah Beats PDP Candidate In Key Contest

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah has won the closely-watched by-poll for the Srinagar parliamentary seat, defeating People's Democratic Party's Nazir Ahmed Khan by a margin of over 10,700 votes. Mr Abdullah received around 48,554 votes, while Mr Khan got 37,779 votes, officials said.

Strict security arrangements have been made by Election Commission as all the polling stations are in Budgam district, the worst-hit by violence during voting on Sunday.
