A Saudi investigation into the worst disaster in the history of the hajj pilgrimage is yet to end, official media reported today, more than three weeks after a stampede killed 1,791 people.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei on Wednesday called on Muslim countries to investigate the deadly crush on the Islamic haj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia last Thursday that killed 769 people including at least 239 Iranians.

A prominent Indian Islamic scholar, who was in Mina to perform Haj, has been reported missing since the deadly stampede broke out, the worst incident in 25 years to strike the annual pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia that had claimed the lives of at least 45 Indians.

The number of Indians killed in a stampede at the Haj has risen to 45 with authorities identifying 10 more bodies among the victims of the worst tragedy in 25 years to hit the annual pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
