The sultry weather in the national capital pushed the peak power demand in the city to 7,398 MW Friday afternoon - the highest this year so far.

Breaking all previous records, the national capital's peak power demand hit an all-time high of 6,998 MW this afternoon. According to figures presented by State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC), it is the highest peak power demand recorded in the history of the city. Last month, it had touched 6,934 MW on June 8.

Alstom will also equip 34 Control Centres at existing National, Regional and State Load Dispatch sites with a software solution which analyses weak spots in the system in real-time, it said.
