An American journalist, who was visiting villages affected by the alleged pollution by Sterlite Copper Smelting factory in Tamil Nadu's Tuticorin, was taken away from his hotel and questioned for several hours by the police before being let off on Sunday.

Top Court Declines Urgent Hearing Over Vedanta's Access To Sterlite Plant

The Supreme Court today declined urgent hearing on a plea by the Tamil Nadu government challenging the National Green Tribunal's (NGT) order allowing mining major Vedanta group access to the administrative unit inside its closed Sterlite copper plant at Tuticorin in the state.
