Arrest of Congress leader Sukhpal Singh Khaira on charges of drug smuggling and money laundering has triggered a bitter three-point squabble in Punjab as the ruling Aam Aadmi Party counters attacks by Mr Khaira's party and the BJP.

The case pertains to the probe in the 2015 Fazilka (Punjab) drugs-smuggling case, in which 1,800 grams of heroin, 24 gold biscuits, two weapons, 26 live cartridges, and two Pakistani SIM cards were seized from a gang of international drug smugglers.

The Enforcement Directorate raided the premises of rebel AAP MLA from Punjab Sukhpal Singh Khaira, his family members in Delhi and some jailed convicts on Tuesday in a money-laundering case linked to the 2015 Fazilka narcotics trafficking case and a fake passport racket, officials said.
