Supreme Court Modifies Order, Protects Kinara Mosque Near Haji Ali Shrine From Demolition

The Supreme Court today modified its earlier order on encroachments near the Haji Ali Shrine in Mumbai and protected Kinara mosque located near the shrine from demolition. The court also asked the Maharashtra government to decide within a week the plea seeking regularisation of the mosque.

Asking the Haji Ali Dargah Trust to take a progressive stand on the issue of allowing women inside the famous Muslim shrine in Mumbai, the Supreme Court today agreed to extend the stay on a High Court order which lifted a 2012 ban on the entry of women.
