Supreme Court On Medical Negligence

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in his petition to the Supreme Court seeking an extension of his interim bail by seven days, has alleged that he suffered medical complications due to the callousness and negligence of Tihar Jail authorities.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed both the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force to pay Rs 1.54 crore in compensation for their medical negligence to the ex-Air Force officer who contracted HIV/AIDS during a blood transfusion in 2002.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday said that even death of a patient cannot, on the face of it, be considered to be medical negligence.
