Condemning Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar for rejecting its claim of surgical strikes having been undertaken by the army under the UPA government, the Congress today demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi tame his "belligerent" minister and BJP chief Amit Shah, and apologise to the armed forces.

Congress on Tuesday said that surgical strikes were conducted thrice during the party-led UPA rule but their government did not make loud claims in the interest of national security.
