Suspected Cattle Smuggler Killed

Three people, including a village headman, were killed and three others seriously injured after a group of suspected cow smugglers attacked them near the Bangladesh border in Meghalaya's West Jaintia Hills district, police said today.

A suspected cow smuggler was killed in a late-night encounter with police in Alwar district of Rajasthan, the latest incident of violence in the region over claims of cattle smuggling.

A man allegedly smuggling cattle died in Haryana's Karnal district during a shootout early on Thursday morning. Three members of a local Gau Raksha Dal (Save cow campaigners), have been detained by the police in the case. The deceased is yet to be identified.
