A year after Tabligh-e-Jamaat's Markaz in Nizamuddin West came under criticism for holding a religious congregation amid the COVID-19 outbreak, its cleric Maulana Saad Kandhalvi against whom a case was registered in connection with the incident is yet to join the probe despite several notices by Delhi Police.

The Gujarat High Court on Wednesday asked the government to furnish details of those who arrived in the state after attending a congregation of Tabligh-e-Jamaat in Delhi, and inform about the steps taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection due to them.

Four policemen were injured when a group of people owing allegiance to Tabligh-e-Jamaat assembled in a village in Bihar's Madhubani allegedly attacked them as the men in uniform admonished them for defying the ongoing lockdown, a senior official said on Wednesday.

The Centre has asked all states and union territories to immediately trace and quarantine the estimated 2,000 foreign Tabligh-e-Jamaat workers present in India, as a number of them tested positive for COVID-19 after attending a religious gathering in Delhi and six died in Telangana.
