Talgo High Speed Train

The final trial to determine if a Spanish-made train, the Talgo, can slash the journey between Delhi and Mumbai by four hours, delivering passengers at just under 12 hours to their destination, has begun.

The much-awaited Spanish-made Talgo high-speed train reached the Mumbai Central Terminus from New Delhi on its third and final trial run, an official said on Tuesday.

The much awaited arrival of the Talgo train in Mumbai this morning has been delayed due to heavy rain.

In a step towards realisation of India's bullet train dreams, the Railways has successfully conducted sensor trials of the Spanish Talgo coaches between Izzatnagar and Bhojipura stations.

Trains manufactured by Spanish firm Talgo may soon undertake trial runs at speeds between 160 and 200 kmph on the existing tracks on the Delhi-Mumbai route. Depending upon the results of the trial runs, the railways will consider introduction of high speed trains on other routes too, a senior Railway Ministry official said.
