Alleging that the US was acting against the interest of Tamils in Sri Lanka, a Tamil outfit today sought boycott of its products like KFC, Pepsi and Coca Cola and announced that it would stage a protest infront of the American Consulate in Chennai tomorrow.

Some vehicles were set on fire and police resorted to lathicharge on Tuesday to disperse a large number of people belonging to more than 20 Muslim organisations who had gathered to protest against an American movie which allegedly denigrated Islam.

A day after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh blamed American NGOs for fuelling protests at the Kudankulam nuclear power plant in Tamil Nadu, the US envoy has reacted by saying that America supports all nuclear power projects being undertaken by India.
