Once again, India is in danger of sabotaging its own efforts to raise foreign investment to China-like levels. The latest salvo in this undeclared, self-defeating war is the government's reported decision to block Tata Sons from paying what arbitrators say the company owes to a former partner, the Japanese company NTT DoCoMo.

Tata-DoCoMo Deal: RBI Plea Rejected For Forex Law Exemption, Says Report

Rejecting a plea by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for exempting the Tata-DoCoMo deal from the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), the Finance Ministry has said the two firms had entered into a share buyback contract in contravention of prevalent law and the case will now have to be legally settled.
