The Supreme Court is scheduled to pronounce on Friday its judgement on the cross appeals filed by Tata Sons Pvt Ltd and Cyrus Investments Pvt Ltd against the NCLAT order which had restored Cyrus Mistry as the executive chairman of the over USD 100 billion salt-to-software Tata conglomerate.

Shapoorji Pallonji (SP) Group on Thursday told the Supreme Court that removal of Cyrus Mistry as the chairman of Tata Sons in a board meeting held in October 2016 was akin to a "blood sport" and "ambush" and was in complete violation of principles of corporate governance and pervasive violation of Articles of Association in the process.

Chief Justice of India Sharad Arvind Bobde, who headed the bench hearing the high-stake Tata-Mistry case on Monday disclosed that his advocate son Shrinivas Bobde, has been representing a subsidiary company of Shapoorji Pallonji Group in a slum redevelopment matter for about two years.

The Supreme Court Wednesday listed for final hearing on December 2 the cross appeals filed by Tata Sons and Cyrus Investments against appellate tribunal NCLAT's order which had restored Cyrus Mistry as the executive chairman of the over USD 100 billion salt-to-software Tata conglomerate.

The apex court said it would hear the matter along with the main plea filed by Tata Sons against NCLAT's verdict.

In case Mr Chandrasekaran - who is widely-believed to be the frontrunner for the position of Tata Sons Chairman - does clinch the top job, there could be a "bit of an impact" given the suddenness of the move, an analyst said.
