Jio on Tuesday announced that it has expanded its 5G rollout to 50 new cities in the country. With the launch of 5G services in states including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha, Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu, customers can now access 5G services in 184 cities.

Jio on Thursday announced the launch of its 5G services in Odisha. The country's largest telecom operator will offer 5G services in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and said that it's network will expand rapidly across the state, covering the cities of Rourkela, Berhampur, Puri, Sambalpur, and Balasore by February.

Asserting that the Centre has sanctioned Rs. 5,600 crore for telecom services in Odisha this fiscal, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday said 5G services will be launched in the eastern state before the Republic Day celebrations next year.

Bharti Airtel has increased the price of its minimum recharge for 28 days mobile phone service plan by about 57 percent to Rs. 155 in Haryana and Odisha, according to the company's website and analysts. Telecom and water services were partially restored in Bhubaneswar and Puri after Cyclone Fani caused extensive damage in Odisha, while work is on war footing to get back the power connections as early as possible, officials said on Sunday.

The new circles that have received VoLTE services include Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Assam, North East Service Area (NESA), and Jammu & Kashmir. As before, Idea is giving a total of 30GB free data to its subscribers.

"We are going to start 4G from Kerala. That will be our first circle on 4G LTE. We will initially focus on those areas where 3G coverage is low."

Vodafone has rolled out 4G in Kerala, Karnataka, Kolkata, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Haryana, UP East, Gujarat, West Bengal Rajasthan, Assam and North East, Odisha, and Maharashtra circles.

Among the 12 major towns being covered with Idea's 4G are Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Baleswar, Jharsuguda, Jatni, and Khurda.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said that any move to dilute internet freedom would cause economic loss to the booming IT industry and it might affect the poor as several services to them were delivered through the internet.

Airtel is a major mobile operator in Odisha with over 8.5 million customers.

Vodafone's Deepak Saluja said the firm is also extending multiple packages to suit customer requirements in Odisha.

Reliance Communication's 3G service will now be available in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and UP East. The company already has permit for 3G services in 13 service areas, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, North East and Jammu & Kashmir
