Limit of 200 SMS-es per day reintroduced by Supreme Court

Once again, a mobile phone cannot be used to send more than 200 SMS-es in a day. The Supreme Court has brought back the quota today with an interim order. The quota was introduced originally to deter unsolicited SMS-es by telemarketing companies.

Telecom regulator issues notice to 900 individuals over pesky calls

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India or TRAI has said it has penalised 15 telemarketers till date and notices have been issued to 900 individuals and phones of 90 people has been disconnected for violating norms put in place to curb pesky calls and SMSes.

In its effort to stop the menace of unwanted communication, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India or TRAI has said that as of now, there is no plan to do away the restriction of 100 SMSes per SIM per day for all subscribers, except on special occasions like Diwali, Eid or other festivals.
