Tesla will stop allowing video games to be played on vehicle screens while its cars are moving, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said.

Two US senators pressed the Federal Trade Commission to probe Tesla, saying the company has misled consumers and endangered the public by marketing its driving automation systems as fully self-driving.

The National Transportation Safety Board Washington DC has disclosed that the 18-year-old driver lost control of Tesla in the May 2018 crash in Fort Lauderdale because he was driving at high speed and contributing to the severity of the injuries was the postcrash fire originating in the crash-damaged lithium-ion traction battery.

The driver and front-seat passenger, both 18, were killed in the May 8 crash in Fort Lauderdale. A rear-seat passenger was ejected and injured.

The NTSB's action means Tesla may not gain access to some information obtained by the agency's investigators before it is made public.

In a report this week on the May 2016 crash of a Tesla Inc Model S that killed a driver who was using Autopilot, the National Transportation Safety Board demonstrated that users could mostly keep their hands off the wheel for extended periods despite repeated warnings from the vehicle.
