Gujarat Textbooks Have Wrong Date Of Birth Of Legendary Poet: Congress

The Congress on Saturday said the Gujarat government was celebrating the 125th birth anniversary of renowned poet Jhaverchand Meghani but had done nothing over school text books in the state getting his date of birth wrong.

In Gujarat Schoolbook Blooper, Jesus Christ Is 'Demon'. Inquiry Ordered

A misprint in a Class 9 schoolbook, because of which Jesus Christ is described as a "haivan" or demon, has caused a controversy in Gujarat. The state government's department in charge of textbooks has admitted to the blooper and withdrawn the Hindi books. It has also ordered an inquiry into how the mistake crept in.

Gujarat Government Doubles Prices of Textbooks in its Schools

The Gujarat government has increased the prices of textbooks for primary schools from 100 to 200 per cent from this academic session. These books are meant for all government schools including municipal school boards where majority of children come from economically-deprived families.
