Thirteen people were killed and at least 28 others injured due to powerful dust storms and thunderstorms in different parts of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. Sitapur, Gonda, Shravasti, Faizabad, and Basti districts, along with other adjoining areas of the state, were affected.

Thunderstorm accompanied by gusty winds claimed 17 people across Uttar Pradesh last evening. Nine people also suffered injuries during the thunderstorm.An UP government spokesperson today said that most of the deaths were caused due to falling of trees and house collapse.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will cut short his election campaign in Karnataka later today and head back to Uttar Pradesh where more than 73 people had died in a dust-storm followed by heavy rains on Wednesday night. The weather office has predicted more thunderstorms in parts of the country including Uttar Pradesh.
