Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Maharashtra Finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar today flagged off a bike rally, covering four out of the six tiger reserves in the state, in support of the government's 'Save Tiger' campaign.

Mr Bachchan spent nearly four hours at Mumbai's Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SNGP), a wildlife habitat bang in the middle of the city. Speaking exclusively to NDTV he said, "I am happy to support the efforts the Maharashtra government is making for tiger conservation. If my voice, my face can make a difference, I am happy to do so"

"In the company of the Big Cat, in the heart of the city. You cannot imagine the forests that abound in the heart of urban Mumbai. This tiger chased us for 4 kms, very unusual. They do not normally do this. It is in the SGNP Reserve, right within the Film City, where we work so often. Incredible!"

According to wildlife experts Panna Tiger Reserve had two dozen tigers after the census in January 2006, and was left with no tigers by December 2008. However, despite that, no arrests have been made even though it is clear that the tigers were poached.
