A toilet scam has apparently been flourishing in Madhya Pradesh's Raisen district. This was the conclusion the state government came to, after disbursing nearly 1 crore over the last three years under the State's Samagra Swachta Abhiyaan, sources told NDTV.

The CBI today filed a closure report in the case related to Dr YS Sachan's death in a Lucknow jail last year, saying forensic evidence pointed to a suicide. Dr Sachan, Deputy Chief Medical Officer in the Family Welfare Department of the UP government, was found dead in the jail toilet on June 22, 2011.

Lack of a proper toilet is least of the reasons for which a young woman would revolt. Not at least in Uttar Pradesh's countryside where half the population is forced to defecate out in the open.But for Priyanka, a Class 12 student in Maharajganj district, 365 km from Lucknow, lack of a toilet was a big challenge.

The latest row is the ambitious plan of building spanking new toilets ahead of the Commonwealth Games by the MCD.Everything was a smooth sailing till now, right from floating of tenders to negotiating with prospective constructors.
