Three staffers of the Western Railway (WR) died after being run over by a local train near Vasai in Palghar district while they were fixing a signalling issue, police officials said on Tuesday.

Three railway workers were killed by Rajdhani Express near Peddapalli district headquarters in Telangana on Tuesday.

The Supreme Court, while hearing a petition related to making safe transport arrangements for migrant workers "irrespective of their caste, creed and religion", allowed the lawyer and petitioner in the case to pay Rs. 25 lakh so that individuals from Uttar Pradesh who are stranded here can return home.

The Railways has operated 4,155 Shramik Special trains ferrying more than 57 lakh migrant workers since May 1. In addition to Shramik specials, Railways are running 15 pairs of special Rajdhani type trains connecting New Delhi and started 200 more time tabled trains from June 1.

With over 22 lakh migrant labourers already back in Bihar, the service of the special trains which ferried them back are likely to stop within a day or two. Only 23 trains reached Bihar on Monday, compared to the 140 trains that run every day on an average. The numbers are likely to reduce further over today and tomorrow.
