In a landmark step, 36 non-Brahmins - six of them Dalits - have been appointed as priests in Kerala. The appointments were made by the Kerala's Travancore Devasom Recruitment Board, which is controlled by the state government - currently headed by CPM's Prinarayi Vijayan.

In a move to revive cricket and boost up infrastructure of the game, former players and film stars have decided to join hands to organise 'Travancore Sixes', an entertainment-oriented shorter version of the game, which will be held on December 11 at Chandrasekharan Nair stadium here.
