Kerala bans two-wheeler riders from conversing with pillion riders to reduce distractions and prevent accidents.

The accident occurred last Thursday when the person's two-wheeler skidded on gravel, causing him and his pillion rider to lose control and crash.

Forty per cent of pillion riders on two-wheelers in Delhi did not use helmets leading to head injuries, according to data collected in 2022 at the AIIMS Trauma Centre here.

Taking cognizance of the matter, the Mumbai Traffic Police has registered a case against the accused rider.

Mumbai Traffic Police issued a notification which makes it compulsory for pillion riders to wear a helmet when out on a two-wheeler. The rule comes in to force 15 days from now and offenders will be penalised as well.

The draft proposal includes mandating a crash helmet for kids between nine months and four years as well as a safety harness that will attach the child to the rider. The ministry also plans to limit vehicle speed to under 40 kmph for two-wheelers with kids.

A 30-year-old man, who was riding pillion on a scooter, was killed after the two-wheeler was hit by a water tanker near the Delhi Jal Board office in south Delhi, police said on Sunday.
