The United Arab Emirates and India have issued a joint statement following the official visit made by Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, to the UAE today.

India and the UAE have held discussions on creation of a mechanism for carrying out bilateral trade in national currencies, an official statement said today.

India and the UAE on Sunday condemned terrorism in all its forms and efforts by states to use religion to justify sponsoring of terrorism, said a joint statement issued following Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day visit to the Gulf nation.

At least 16 pacts in a wide range of sectors like nuclear energy, oil, Information Technology, aerospace and railways, facilitating billions of dollars of investment by United Arab Emirates (UAE) in India, are likely to be inked during Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayad Al Nahyan's visit beginning Wednesday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today took a veiled swipe at Pakistan over terrorism, saying India and the UAE have come out with a clear message against terrorism in their joint statement, "without caring for anyone".

In a significant move, India and the UAE today decided to establish a "strategic security dialogue" and boost defence ties besides resolving to work together in counter-terrorism operations, combating money laundering, drug trafficking and trans-national crimes.
