Taxi-hailing aggregator Uber today said the West Bengal transport department has been issuing a limited number of commercial licences, leading to a lesser number of cars joining its platform in the state capital.

The service, which is already available in Delhi and Bengaluru, will reach Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai on Sunday.

Ola Micro, the company's most affordable class of small and compact cars has been launched in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune and Hyderabad.

Leading taxi aggregator Uber has slashed its fares by up to 25 per cent in Chennai and Kolkata, with an aim to attract more customers.

After Bangalore and Delhi, taxi aggregator Uber would launch carpool service in Kolkata this year, offering at least 30 per cent lower fares to those who share cab rides as part of efforts to check rising pollution.

"In 2016, we are going to start carpool service in Kolkata," Uber said in a statement.
