The Centre on Wednesday opposed a petition by the UK anthropologist Filippo Osella against the denial of entry into India in March and his subsequent deportation, saying the academician was in the "highest category of blacklisting".

Filippo Osella, an anthropologist and academician from the UK currently involved in research on traditional fishing in Kerala, was deported to his country by India soon after his arrival at the international airport in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday
