In a setback for Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, the Supreme Court today rejected the state's plea to postpone the implementation of the Uniform System of School Education. The government wanted to postpone the implementation of the scheme by a year.

Madras High Court asks Tamil Nadu Govt to implement uniform syllabus

In a setback to Jayalalithaa government, Madras High Court has directed it to implement uniform syllabus in schools this year. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had scrapped Uniform Syllabus launched by the DMK government citing poor quality. Now, government will have to distribute books to schools before July 22.
