Us Taiwan Arms Deal

China vowed on Monday to "take countermeasures" against companies involved in arms sales to Taiwan after the United States approved a $300-million deal to beef up the self-ruled island's defences.

China said Monday it would impose sanctions on Lockheed Martin, a Boeing defence division and other US firms involved in arms sales to Taiwan, the self-governed island that Beijing views as its territory.

China said Thursday it had summoned a senior US envoy in protest at Washington's announcement that it would sell two warships to Taiwan as part of a $1.8 billion arms deal.

China is angry with the US over its 6.4 billion dollars arms deal with Taiwan.
