High Court Refuses To Extend Deadline For Vacating Government Bungalows

Uttarakhand High Court on Monday refused to give any more time to former chief ministers of the state to vacate the government bungalows occupied by them in the city, saying they will have to do so by December 16, the deadline set by the state government.

As Uttarakhand battles the widespread damage caused by torrential rain, the state's weather department has said that warnings were sent out to the government which warned them not only of very heavy rains but also urged them to move people to safer areas.

Around 1,200 tourists still remain stranded in Himachal Pradesh after last week's floods ravaged parts of the state and neighbouring Uttarakhand. 1,200 people have been rescued from Himachal's Kinnaur district so far; 20 people have died due to floods across the state.
