Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for Char Dham highway project in Uttarakhand. A sum of 12,000-crore has been sanctioned for the 900-km-long highway project that will improve connectivity between the four pilgrimage centres - Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri.

The Centre has announced a Rs 195 crore-package today for reconstruction of the 'Char Dham' pilgrimage circuit, which was badly affected by the Uttarakhand rain disaster.
